Each year the NCPTS distributes cervical cytology glass-slide teaching sets to Anatomical Pathology Registrars on a rotating basis.
Six sets (three ThinPrep and three SurePath) of ten cases each are sent to all New Zealand registrars. Each set typically contains five “classic” cases, and five ‘“interesting/difficult” cases. Clinical notes, answers and interpretative comments are given for each case.
Follow-up details including recuts of subsequent histology are included where possible.
All sets will be rotated to all registrars.
Each ThinPrep or SurePath slide set will be rotated to registrars at the sites using that method, prior to the RCPA Cytology Slide Practical examination in June. The remainder of the sets will be rotated later in the year.
